"I am a SUCCESSFUL Certified Staging Professsional...
Q. Everyone's definition of success is different; what does being successful mean to you?
A. Success to me is growing my business as well as the Staging industry in Winnipeg. It is also measured in the connections I have made with other Stagers in my area as well as Real Estate Agents & other like minded business owners. I have also played a large part in starting the RESA Manitoba Chapter to help promote Staging.
Q. What do you feel is you or your company's biggest achievement since taking the CSP Course?
A. My company's biggest achievement has been connecting with Real Estate Agents & educating them on the Benefits of Staging - how it can benefit them & their clients.
Q. What did you do before embarking on the life of a Certified Staging Professional?
A. Before taking the CSP class I worked at The Brick in the Furniture Service Dept in the Distribution Center. I handled the Quality Control issues as well as the Furniture Parts.
Q. What did your friends or family think about your decision of starting a staging business?
A. My friends & family were excited for me but were also a little apprehensive since Staging was still quite new & not very well known in Winnipeg. Staging has come a long way in the last 2 years & they are realizing that I am doing what I love!
Q. If you could give advice to someone considering entering the staging industry what would it be?
A. Be patient & be confident. Like any business it takes some time to get a business up & running. It is not a glamorous job all the time - there is hard work to be done, there is physical work to be done, they is dirty work to be done - be prepared to do it all! Don't be affraid to ask questions - I had trouble with this in the beginning but have been getting better at it!!
Q. If you could give advice to a Certified Staging Professional who hasn't quite made it to "success" yet, what would you tell them?
A. Don't give up! Keep on plugging! Find another CSP in your area that you can talk to about the areas you are struggling with. You may even find someone you could team up with & work together - 2 heads are always better then 1!
Q. What would you tell a potential student as the BEST thing about being a CSP is?
A. The training is great! The brochure says it is 3 intense days - and it IS 3 intense days! I have had the pleasure of attending a class taught by Lynelle & a class taught by Jackson & they were both great! Very informative & answered a lot of questions like how much to charge, where to start, who to call. Also the after class support is good too. It is nice to know that there is someone you can call when you have questions!!
